A visual atlas of architectural façades, understood not merely as structural elements, but as faces through which buildings express their identity, their memory, and their relationship with time.

The juxtaposition of numerous façades against a black background creates a kind of silent archive, in which each building appears as a distinct individual, endowed withitsown expressiveness. Churches, palaces, portals, bell towers, and decorative elements are isolated from their urban context and reduced to an essential dimension:theirformal presence.

The black background plays a fundamental role. It removes the presence of streets, the sky, surrounding buildings, and traces of everyday life, transforming each façadeintoan autonomous presence.

The building is no longer viewed as part of an urban fabric, but as an image emerging from the darkness. This act of subtraction creates a suspension of time: thearchitecturesseem to exist beyond their original locations, freed from their practical functions and restored to their symbolic power.

Black thus becomes a mental, almost museological space, in which the façades can be observed, compared, and remembered.

Arranging the images in a grid transforms the collection into a system of relationships. Each individual façade relinquishes part of its monumental uniqueness to enterintodialogue with all the others.

Similarities, differences, recurring features, and variations begin to emerge: the verticality of bell towers, the centrality of portals, the rhythm of openings, the complexityofornamentation, and the balance between flat surfaces and projecting volumes.

Seriality serves not merely to catalogue. It becomes a method for observing architecture as a language composed of elements that repeat and transform themselves.

The project thus occupies a space between archive and atlas, classification and portrait, analytical observation and poetic sensibility. Repetition reveals what architecturalformshave in common, while their differences restore to each its own distinctive character.
